Integrating Jira and Confluence over SSL

Naweed Jaulim November 4, 2014

Hello,

I am trying to integrate JIRA and Confluence together. They both run over port 8080 on their respective machines but are accessible over https through a reverse proxy.

The documentation mention about importing Confluence certs into the JIRA box. In this case should I be importing the proxy's SSL cert?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Naweed

Hello Naweed,

That's correct. Although you use only one SSL URL to both applications, both of them have to import the certificate into its own cacerts to trust it when creating the Application Links between them, for example.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Eduardo,

Thanks for your response, just so that I am clear on the steps.

  • Import Proxy SSL into JIRA cacerts
  • ImPort Proxy SSL into Confluence Cacerts

We use only one SSL URL attached to the proxy server to acess both apps.

JIRA - https://myserverA.company.com/jira

Confluence - https://myserverA.company.com/confluence

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Naweed

Hey Naweed,

Yes, you should import the proxy's SSL from JIRA into the Confluence's cacerts, and also import the Confluence one into the JIRA's cacerts.

Since you configured the reverse proxy to handle the HTTPS, Confluence will request JIRA through JIRA's Proxy, so Confluence will need to have its certificate imported and vice-versa.

I hope it helps!
