Installing JIRA on Linux Command Line Interface (CLI)

Saneth Kumar June 14, 2012

I need to install JIRA using the CLI on a Red Hat Linux Server. I guess the documentation only mentions how to install JIRA using the GUI, as per points 3 & 4.

3. Execute the '.bin' file to start the console wizard.
4. When prompted to choose between 'Express Install', 'Custom Install' or 'Upgrade an existing JIRA installation', choose either the 'Express Install' or 'Custom Install' options:

When installing using the CLI, will I be prompted as mentioned in point 4?

How different is the installation using the CLI? Could you please give me some points on how to go about the installation?

Thank you.

I don't have a Linux box handy right now to check, but my reading of that doc is that there is no GUI for Linux installation - that the Linux installer is entirely console based and the prompt in step 4 is a text prompt.

I was using SSH on a Cent OS and the commands that worked for me to do the install were

wget https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/downloads/binary/atlassian-jira-6.4.4-x64.bin

cd abc; ./atlassian-jira-6.4.4-x64.bin
