Increase the Available Memory Java VM Memory

After officially getting a successful build of jira on my server and my database all set on external. I've noticed in the system panel that jira only has 20% free memory. Maybe its unnecessary to boost the ram but my instance has 3gb of ram and was wondering if there was a way to increase the amount of available memory so jira does not get bottle necked?

Thank you ! I did a search on the community for increasing the MIN/MAX memory for the JVM.  The link you shared was exactly what i needed.
