In JIRA/Portfolio is there a quick way to log work done on Epics?

We aren't actively using the work tracking portions of JIRA, but I want to use Portfolio to track our big picture progress and forward-looking plans.   It seems that to make this work, you need to update the work done on individual Epics.  Otherwise, their estimates are always placed entirely in the future.  (I guess you could just lower their estimates, but it is kind of nice to know that you're finishing a big Epic rather than having its difficulty appear to diminish until it is gone.)

The annoying thing is that while you can update many things in Portfolio, there does not seem to be support for modifying the work logged.  Nor is there any other easy summary view where you can do so.  I have to go into each epic and update individually.

Anyone have a good solution?
