Importing historical data

I am evaluating Jira as a fault tracking system and need to import data from my current system by csv file. Does anyone know if it possible to import historical data into the comments of an issue?

Historical information can only be importing doing a full Jira import. The csv files don't have that information, comments and attachments are not exported.

If you want to import just a couple of Projects I recommend doing a full export / import and then deleting the unwanted projects. Note that this will overwrite all your previous Jira data.

If you are looking into importing a Project into an already working Jira without overwritting, then you'll have to do a merge between the Jiras. This article explains: How to merge two Jira OnDemand instances

Does the CSV contain the historical comments?

Isn't the other system listed on this issue trackers importer list: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/importer-migrations#%21jira-csv?

This was previously asked in https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/83849/issue-history-import-csvand maybe that helps.

More information about CSV importing is in Importing Data from CSV and there are also some questions and answers on that page.

Cheers
