Importing a Project onto a new JIRA instance doesn't retain the Rapid Boards asscociated with the Project

Guy Anela August 23, 2012

I'm moving Projects from one instance of JIRA to another using the Export/Import feature. When I import the Project onto the new instance, it doesn't create the Rapid Boards that are associated with the project. Is this a known issue? If so, is there a workaround to correct it?

AFAIK the Export/Import only uses project specific items, such as issues, settings, components, versions etc.

(Rapid) Boards in Greenhopper are all based on a filter und by this often contain more issues that just of one Project. Or even less issues. E.g. you cann create afilter and use for your (Rapid) Board that displays:

  • All issues of type "Bug" of your four most important projects
  • All issues of the current project that are assigned to your boss

As you migt have guessed allready there is no direct link between a JIRA project and a (Rapid) Board although GreenHopper makes you think so by selecting single projects when you create a board.

If you want to transfer your (Rapid) Board _with_ your project you will have to do this manually (for now).
