Amar December 2, 2019

Hi folks,

Can we import database of one JIRA(7.6.1) application in to another JIRA database (7.13.11) through db import?

Using MSSQL database and both database versions are same.

Regards,

Amar

Yes, but there are some complexities you need to think through.  It depends on what you mean by "import".

If you mean you want to take a 7.6 system, copy it to another database and then upgrade by pointing a 7.13 installation at it, then Jira does support doing that.  But it is NOT the recommended upgrade route, and I would strongly recommend taking a copy of the 7.6 and upgrading it by pointing the 7.13 installer at the 7.6 installation.

If you mean you want to merge the 7.6 into a 7.13, then yes, it is possible, but you have a LOT of complex work to do - you will need to extract the data you want to merge in, make sure it is the right shape for 7.13, and does not clash, then stop the target Jira, run the SQL to get the data in, restart and re-index.  One mistake and you'll need to go back to the backups and start all over again.  This is the worst possible way to approach a merge of two Jira systems.
