Import JIRA backup, CROWD issue.

Eli Lindner August 31, 2011

Hi,

I have a JIRA 4.2 instance that is currently using CROWD for user management. If I try to export the JIRA data and import it into a JIRA 4.4 instance, I can no longer log into the system. I suspect this has something to do with the crowd integration.

What would be the best way around this? I don't mind somehow removing the crowd integration.

JIRA 4.3 changed completely how users are managed. And then it has not changed in JIRA 4.4. So in fact while you are upgrading from JIRA 4.2 to JIRA 4.4 you should pay very close attention to JIRA 4.3 Upgrade Guide - especially those sections related to Crowd integration: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+4.3+Upgrade+Guide#JIRA43UpgradeGuide-Changesinseraph-configxmlandCro and http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+4.3+Upgrade+Guide#JIRA43UpgradeGuide-ForcustomersconnectingtoCrowdfo

If you still have problems with the upgrade, I'd suggest raising support request at https://support.atlassian.com and providing more details (at least log files would help).
