IE Compatability issues after upgrading to JIRAv6

Daniel S August 4, 2013

Hi all,

I am attempting to upgrade from JIRA 4.1 to JIRA 6.0, however I am encountering the issues that have already been documented about having trouble viewing JIRA in IE8 due to intranet sites running in compatability mode (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Compatibility+Mode+related+problems+on+Internet+Explorer).

It's unfortunately not an option for my company to use a different browser other than Internet Explorer v8, or make a global change to turn off compatability mode for all intranet sites.

I have reviewed the fix that has been suggested in https://jira.atlassian.com/i#browse/JRA-25793 , however I'm still unable to get this to work. Additionally, the files this JIRA specifies to update (header.jsp and header-deprecated.jsp) do not exist in JIRA 6.0, so I attempted to change head-common.jsp (under atlassian-jira/includes/decorators/aui-layout/) but no luck.

Are there any other files I need to update in JIRA 6.0 to fix these compatability issues?

Yes, they goofed up the order of some very brittle M$ tags in the velocity templates. I reported the fix here, https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-33941, and they have coded into ondemand release and it awaits QA review for the download release.
