I want to upgrade my current Jira and Confluence 7.4.4 to 8.0.2, please help.

Rajesh Babu March 18, 2019

We have been using Jira and Conflunence 7.4.4 and we are planning to upgrade to the latest version 8.0.2. I need some expertise, guidance to perform this.

For your information, this is the first time I am trying this upgrade process, so if I get a proper support or guidance to perform this task would be a great help for me.

Hi Rajesh,

There are many KB articles available from Atlassian on how to upgrade JIRA and Confluence, you can use them as a reference guide to starting the upgrade process. Atlassian strongly recommends performing your upgrade in a test environment that best reflects your production environment first. Don't upgrade your production instance until you are satisfied that your test environment upgrade has been successful and is functioning correctly. This includes checking your add-ons and customizations.

There are two ways that you can use to upgrade this process - 1) manual and 2) installer. If you're not comfortable with the manual process (it involves modifying config files and Java install / path etc) then choose installer way to upgrade your existing JIRA.

See this link for manual upgrade:

let us know how it goes
