I want to add ''sprint board'' to ''General board'' on Jira

Oluwatobi Omotayo October 2, 2024

I want to add ''sprint board'' to ''General board'' on Jira. Currently, I have to keep switching from one board to another, because some issues are on the sprint board, while some others are on the general boards. I would like to know the steps to take to add my sprint board issues to the general board issue, so that we can always make use of one board during srum and related meetings. Thank you.

Hello @Oluwatobi Omotayo

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you provide a screen image showing your "general board"? Obscure confidential information.

Are all the issues in the same Jira Project or in different Jira Projects?

What are the project type(s) of the Jira Projects that contain the issues? You can get that information from the Type column on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

Sprints will be viewable only on Scrum boards. If there are issues that are not in the sprints, they will not show up in the board view of such a project.

You might be able to create a Kanban board that pulls in all the issues of interest, but you will not be able to select Sprints on such a board. You might be able to customize the card display to include showing the Sprint field so that you could see on each individual card if it is in a Sprint. You could also consider adding Quick Filters to the board so that you could elect to view only the issues currently assigned to active sprints, temporarily hiding anything not in currently in an Active Sprint.

Thank you so much, Trudy,

This answer is really helpful. How can I add ''view issues to active sprints'' on the ''Quick Filter'' Kanban board? I would appreciate a step by step guide. Thank you

This document describes the steps for creating Quick Filters.

This is the home page for all information about searching for issues and creating filters in general.

In Quick Filters you must use JQL. To create a JQL filter that selects issues in active sprints you would use the openSprints() function.

Hello again,

Please confirm that this is the JQL Query (Image below) I need to enter to show issues in active sprint on a general board. I did this configuration, and it still does not show the issues in active sprint nor any other issues. Thank you

The Quick Filters are used to select a subset of the issues that are already included in the board. If the base filter of your board does not include issues that are in open sprints then the quick filter will not display any issues.

What is the base filter for your "general board"? Get that information from the Configure board option (under the ... button in the upper right corner of the board) and on the General tab.

What is an issue that is currently in an active/open sprint? Is that issue already displayed on your general board when no quick filters are selected? If not, then the base filter of your board will have to be adjusted to include such issues.
