Hi @Shaikh Abdul Rehman and welcome to the Community!

You can make fields mandatory in different ways in Jira, so it would help us help you if you could explain how you set this up.

Most likely you made the time tracking field required in the field configuration linked to your project. That makes the field(s) required all the time and with any operation (create / edit) in every project where this configuration is used. That is usually not what you want.

It is more common that you want to make the estimates fields required when you reach a certain status in your workflow. And to make this work:

  • make sure the time tracking is no longer required in your field configuration first (locate this through project settings > issues > fields)
  • create a new screen (from Jira settings > issues > screens) with the time tracking field on it. (**)
  • Check the workflows you are using for your different issue types. On the transitions where you want to make the field(s) required, add the transition screen you created in the previous step and add a fields required validator to make sure the desired filed must be filled out.

(**) If you already have a transition screen associated with the transition in your workflow, add the time tracking field to the existing screen.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to the community @Shaikh Abdul Rehman

  • What do you see when you go to the issue layout in the project?
  • Go to Settings -> Field Configurations -> See from the configurations if these fields were marked as required

Hi @Shaikh Abdul Rehman,

As I mentioned before, look at Project Settings > Issues > Fields. In your screenshot, you are on Project Settings > Issues > Layouts. The field configuration (as it is called) is two steps down in the menu on the left hand side.
