I have JIRA installed and running on Windows 2012 server and can login and access JIRA from the console.

How can I get it to be accessible from browser?

Tried to connect with http://servername:8080

Could you try the ip address of the server first ( http://192.168.1.42:8080 ), to narrow down where the problem might be?

Not sure what you mean by console. After installing JIRA it has always opened with http://localhost:8080 in the URL for me. If you mean a browser from another machine, it needs to be able to find 'servername', usually through a DNS entry. If both machines are on the same network you can replace servername with the IP address of the server.
