I created a filter with few specified fields in the display using configure columns - I shared it will all users - When they try to run the display field change based on their user id - This defeats the purpose of a public filter - why is this happening ? is there a way to avoid this ... Jira 5.2.6
You can define columns for filters under "Manage Filters". If you haven't done that, it takes the user preferences.
actually i did that. adding set the columns order again resolved that issue

You need to define the column order in the filter. Go to Issue --> Manage Filters --> My Filters --> there set the columns under the action button on the right side
