I can’t delete an issue on Company Project

Serge Creator January 12, 2024

I’ve created a new project with company type on Jira Software. And I can’t see the option to delete and issue. I’ve checked the settings I’m and admin and can have all the permissions for deleting issues but it’s still do not let me do so.

Also I’ve created a new project with the same settings maybe a different template for it’s company type, and I can delete an issues. Not sure why is it working that way

Does any one ☝️ knows on how to fix this issue?

Hi Serge - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

First, be very careful when allowing anyway to Delete issues. It is advised to instead have a separate status for Canceled or Abandoned or Aborted or something that like. Or setting the Resolution to Obsolete or Won't Do or something like that when moving to the Done status.

Aside from that, navigate to the Permission Scheme used by the project and then click the Permission Helper button in the top left. That should help provide you with answers as to why you cannot delete the issue.

@John Funk thank you for your swift reply. Yeah, I agree that allowing users to delete issues can cause problems. As I understand, I won't be able to have roles that can delete issues on a Free Plan. I would just assign this role to myself, but I'm unsure if I can do so.

I found the helper, and it gave me this error. What do you think should I do? I'm not sure how to fix itScreenshot 2024-01-13 at 9.59.03 PM.png

That's a strange one that Anonymous is trying to delete. Is it not a named user with a license?

I just ran into this, not sure if you're seeing it still. But for some reason when I initially created the company-managed project I must not have added myself to it as an administrator, so there was "no one" in the project. I added myself as an admin (in my system settings, administrators have the ability to delete issues) and that seemed to resolve the issue.

Also, I would like to know more about Setting Up Statutes and Resolutions. I can't find it simple to do so on my settings. Could you please help me navigate how I can set it up?

For example Status Done and Resoltuon would be Canceled and Junk
