I am customizing a form and preselected options in project settings not showing up on form?

I am trying to create a form for user account registration. I have created a form for each license and user type with preselected options as well as default information. This is important so that when the form is created, it pre-populates the information so when the issue is created it has all the information and saves the person time by having those fields filled out. However, in project settings, I create the issue types and preselect them and set the defaults, but they are not selected on the forms. I am wondering what the issue is and if there is a solution?

Happy to help, but you would need to share more details about your configuration: what form are you referring to? What product are you using for this (Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, Jira Software)? How and where did you define default values

Apart from all these questions, also a best practice tip along the way: if you know up front for certain fields what your user is going to fill out (or you can fill out certain things automatically), don't let the user fill them out, but automate this instead.
