How to troubleshoot Confluence Jira/Issue Filter performence (JIRA dashboard fine)

We're seeing real performance issues (20-30 seconds for about 100 issues) being pulled into a Confluence page using a Jira/Issue filter.

If we create a dashboard with the same Jira filter and display the same fields the performance is absolutelty fine.

I'm suspecting there's something in the way Confluence is pulling from JIRA as opposed to the JIRA instance accessing it's database, but was looking for suggestions.

Currently JIRA & Confluence and MySQL DB on same linux VM.
