How to stop due dates from being set in the past?

jasongrahn March 27, 2015

JIRA v6.1.5 with JIRA Agile v6.4.4

When opening a new ticket, it's possible to set the due date to a date in the past. What does my JIRA team need to change in order to block this action?

Essentially I am trying to prevent ticket creators from saying "I'm making this today, but it was due last week."

We have noticed this carries over from cloned tickets as well.

Look here: https://jsutil.atlassian.net/wiki/display/JSUTIL/JIRA+Suite+Utilities+Workflow+Validators#JIRASuiteUtilitiesWorkflowValidators-DateExpressionCompareValidator

You need a workflow validator (date expression compare) and you can set it to  'Due Date' > 'now'.

Thanks @Sana Safai. Can't figure out how this works though. Do you know where instructions are?

Hi,

Check out the free plugin JIRA Suite Utilities: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.googlecode.jira-suite-utilities

They have date validation options you can put on your "Create" transition which can prevent a due date from being set in the past.
