How to show list of request type groups in JIRA Service Desk?

I'm trying to hide certain request types from the customer service portal, but can't find the option to do so. From this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskcloud/best-practices-for-designing-the-customer-portal-732529000.html

It seems like there should be a column listing the groups, with a hidden from portal option. I am not seeing the column listing the groups. Instead, it's just a list of all request types shifted over to cover the space where the groups should be.

If you're on JSD server, that change is released in JSD version 3.2.0. You need to update your JSD.
