How to set up "enter release notes comment" on ticket close

Hello,

I'm trying to setup automatic generation of release notes.To do so, I need to add custom filels "Release notes comments" to be automatically populated (and required) on the "close" step in workflow, so everybody closing issue will be forced to enter comment which will go to release notes (It should be  different from regular comment). How can configure this? I'm using this guide:

but I cannot add automatic pop-up of the "release notes" screen on ticket close - It just closing the issue.

That is a very old procedure, where the latest version is for JIRA 4.3: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA043/Creating+a+Custom+Release+Notes+Template+Containing+Release+Comments and likely won't work on a more modern version of JIRA.

I think the best way to do this would be to use a workflow validator on that field, and place the field only on the close screen for the issue.
