How to set up 'output' fields in JIRA?

Jarrod Mochnick October 9, 2017

We are preparing to set up a new JIRA project, and one of the requests from one of the managers of the project wanted fields in JIRA that would just be for output data. For example, if a user creates at ticket, based on the fields they select (a few yes no boxes generally speaking), would a field in JIRA be able to calculate a result based on the user-selected fields? It's basically creating a few different 'scores'. Right now they have these calculating inside of Excel, and we were wondering if something similar was possible for JIRA.

Yes, it is possible if you have an app like ScriptRunner (works on Server and Cloud) or Power Scripts (Server only). We use both of them, ScriptRunner for post function calculation and Power Scripts for live field updates.

Hi Jarrod,

Here is a video walking you through how to do this with Power Scripts if you decide to go that route.

Hope that helps!
