How to set up a custom field to read only for Jira Users?

Is there a way to set up a custom field named " projected due date" to read only for only Jira Users not for the JIRA Admins without installing any plug inns on JIRA  v7.1.1#71004-sha1:d6b2c0d?

Thank you.

Yes -

  • remove the field from the "edit" screen,
  • create a new screen for "edit projected due date",
  • add "looped" transitions to the workflow (so from open to open, in-progress to in-progress etc),
  • use the new screen for these transitions
  • finally, put conditions such as "only people in the admin group" on the looped transitions

This does leave you with a small weakness in the create screen - if you don't have the field there, you'll need the admins to go set the data after creation.  Or you can have it on there, but all users will be able to fill it in when they create issues

Put it only on the view screen and create a transition only executable by the admins from any status you want to be able to update it from.
