How to search for a user-picker custom field in JIRA6?

Cindy Leevy December 12, 2013

We just upgraded from JIRA 3.15 to JIRA 6. We had a lof of custom fields, a few of them are user-picker type, such as DOC_owner, Manual_owner. In JIRA 3.15, we can select DOC_owner by picking a JIRA user (say john). However, after upgrade, the search always returns nothing, even we can see many issues have DOC_owner=john.

Do we need to do anything after upgrade?

It seems if I create new issue that match the search criteria (DOC_owner=john), then it will return the issue. The problem is with the issues already in JIRA 3. Upgrading makes the existing issues not matching the search criteria.

This is a show stopper for our upgrade! Please help!
