How to restrict users from accessing all projects

Ayesha_Matak August 10, 2017

Hi,

I need to restrict some users to accessing all of our projects in JIRA. They should only be allowed to view the one project. I have completed the following:

1. Removed the browse projects permission (just left for admin)

2. Created a group and assigned the group to the developer role on the project

This hasnt worked, can someone please assist?

JIRA works on giving permission, not restricting. When everyone can do something you usually have the jira-user group (or other logon group) in the permission scheme or project role. You need to look at the permission scheme and project role memberships. From what you said ONLY the admins should be able to browse the project, not even the developers since you didn't give the developer role browse permission so there is something else giveing permissions.

The global permissions has develoeprs to browse users, could that be giving the permission?

No, as Joe says, it's the "browse" permission in your permission schemes.  Check what that says.
