How to rename screenshots while being attached to a JIRA ticket?

JIRA Support Team November 20, 2017

We are using JIRA Server v7.1.10.

When editing a JIRA, a take a screen capture, press CTRL+V to paste the screenshot. It is working fine. The image is attached to JIRA issue.

However, I cannot find a way to rename the attachment.

According to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-25060 , JIRA Product manager said "We have recognised that while we have provided some functionality to rename screenshots while being attached to a JIRA ticket...."

However I cannot find any way to rename an attachment. Could you please advice?

Hello,
Do you have any news about this issue ?
This feature is available on the old issue view edit Jira ticket page (refer to ?oldIssueView=true).
But this old view issue will be disabled in january 2023.
Is there an equivalent in classic edition issue view ?

It is not implemented in "vanilla" JIRA yet. It is just a suggestion and it may takes a years to implementation.

You can try some 3-rd party add-ons, like Smart Attachments.

Hi Manzo, we recently upgraded from v6.x to v7.1.10. As far as I remember, after I attach a screenshot and attach to Issue, it will prompt me to keep the file name or to rename it.

Is the function removed after upgrade from v6 to v7? Or just my memory bad?
