How to redirect all requests to old server to new server

BarthélémyH June 6, 2012

We currently run JIRA on a server. Our organisation has set up a central service and we will migrate to it.

I would like to have all attempt to connect to the old server be redirected to the JIRA main page of the new server.

I know how to do it with apache (rewrite) but JIRA is running on tomcat. One possible solution is to completely shut down JIRA and tomcat on the old server and enable an apache server so that I do the redirection with Apache.

Do you have any simple solution for that ? a redirection with tomcat perhaps ?

What you suggested is the best possible way forward, in anycase you wont be running JIRA on this server anymore, install/configure apache to catch all and redirect to the new url/server this is very simple and a easy thing to do or you want to make it even more simple you can ask your network team to point the old url/dns/ip to the new server.
