How to purge records

It's our understanding that Atlassian has been getting a lot of requests to develop an Archive solutions, allowing users to archive / remove data from the JIRA database.  I was wondering if there has been any activity in this area and when users may be able to expect this functionality.

Last time I spoke with Atlassian about this (quite a while ago now), the general suggestion was that they were looking to do it for the data-centre setup, but not for smaller JIRA systems (unless the code and solution would be useful and easy to down-scale!).

For updates, all us end-users really have to watch is https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-5843 (as well as the usual blogs etc)
