How to only get the notifications I want?

I am the project  lead and I get notifications whenever someone does something in our project even though 'unassigned' is default when creating a new user story. Only want notifications if I'm a reporter/assigned/watcher, I just can't figure it out how to do it and my inbox is getting full with JIRA updates!

Can you check the notification scheme? It is possible that the notifications are setup to be sent to the project lead for all the changes!

Another thing to check is the watched issues. If you are watching a lot of issues, either because you created them or commented on them, you will get notifications for them. You can bulk edit the issues to unwatch them and also change the settings under your profile to not automatically watch issues that you create and comment on.
