How to modify a column in Jira Kanban to hold more than 1 ticket horizontally

We are trying to create a portfolio view of all projects across multiple programs (swim lanes).

Instead of holding one ticket width in each column ((using JIRA Kanban) can you adjust to have say a width of three tickets within the same column?

For example at the moment we have 12 tickets in one column and it puts them all down the page eg 1*12 - could we change this to hold 3 across and 4 deep? eg 3*4

I'm pretty sure it's not possible.. Though https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.bit.agile.bit-storymap might help you need JIRA Agile installed as a dependency for it to work.  (4 months ago anyway)  This might work for you..
