Environment: JIRA and confluence hosted by us. Primary directory is fed by AD into JIRA which is fed to confluence. We want to add external users who will not be a part of AD and also be able to add these users to groups to ensure their access is segregated appropriately. Would the best way to do this be to add these users to the JIRA resident directory? If this is the case, will these users also be fed to confluence?
You can find some good suggestions in this doc, Todd: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Managing+Multiple+Directories
The one thing to take note is that when adding these external users, these usernames and groups should not exist in the DB. The User Directory should have "... with Local Groups" setting.
