Ours R&D team wants to create a project on Jira for engineers to create weekly reports, in which they can list weekly or daily tasks and mark them the status. For project manager, we hope to see a list of reports about their tasks completion status when we have weekly meeting. I am not sure if Jira software has the features, what template is suitable for filing reports.
Jira can act as a place to record updates and hence provide reports to people, but it can't make your engineers put things into it.
You will need to educate them to put in the data you build your reports from, make it part of the job (some places do it in a very blunt way - making the reporting part of people's objectives or evaluations - I find that very harsh, but emphasising "if you put the data into Jira, people won't bother you with questions" seems better)
Once you have an environment where the assignees are logging time and updating their issues then you should look at using the Dashboard feature and the many gadgets that are provided. It is a good resource for PMs to monitor and report on projects.
