How to import FogBugz custom fields in to JIRA?

Deleted user August 29, 2012

Dear Community,

we're trying to migrate our fogbugz environment in to our JIRA. We have around 8000 cases/issues in fb and are using it for several years.

In the documentation (especially Tips for importing FogBugz for Your Server data into JIRA fields) they say "if FB contains any custom fields you can choose to map them to JIRA custom fields" and that the FB custom fields plugin wouldn't be supported.

As far as we know there is no chance to add custom fields to FB itself. That's why the custom fields plugin by FBs vendor FogCreek exists. And we used it!

Does anybody know how to handle that? How to move our custom fields content out of FB to JIRA?

If you have access to the FB database, then #4 from How to import data from external systems or databases would probably work for you. In your case, you already have migrated the other data, you need to be able to make sure you can map the old FB entries to the new JIRA issues so you could just update the custom field(s) using setFieldValue

Thanks for the tip but we ended with writing a sql script to get the data migrated and it worked well somehow..head of software development worked the whole day on it

Anyway... JIRA is now live!
