After an upgrade to Jira 5.2 users are already complaining about the missing Filters button from the proejct summary page.

Is there a way to bring this back or they have to to extra steps and go to reports and choose one from there?

I see this as an important regression regarding usability.

it is now on the "Issues" tab under the project summary. Instead of a button, it is now given as links.

Yes, Atlassian likes to make our lives harder, Click on the project's page from the project menu. The filters are listed there. Someone got into their head one way to get to something is better.

Here is an example from the jira site.
