How to enable "days in column" on Next Gen Kanban Board Jira tickets?

Deleted user December 8, 2019

How can I enable the "time in column" or more generally, display the age of a ticket in a next gen Jira ticket in my Kanban Board?

The link below only appears to apply to Classic Jira only. Next Gen and Classic Jira appear as two completely different products and I would you suggest you split your documentation accordingly. it is so confusing otherwise.

When are you guys going to have online chat support?

Hello Mark,

Thank you for reaching out to Community!

The option to show "Days in Column" is currently only available for Classic projects, since the Board settings were not released for next-gen yet.

We have a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:

Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

A year later, this is yet another must-have feature that is not available.

The ticket you linked us to (which had loads of votes) was abandoned last month, and replaced with a bunch of smaller tickets that now have next to no votes, so I expect it will be several years until any of them have enough vote momentum to be considered.

I'm very disappointed in the "Next-Gen" projects right now.

I transitioned one of my teams to it as a pilot, and every day, we are finding absolutely fundamental functionality that are still not ready nearly two years after the new boards were made available.

If anyone reading this feels it is worthwhile to bother voting on requests for basic functionality, the new ticket requesting to see how long a ticket has been idle in the Kanban flow is

ven though the request that Angelica linked us to in Dec 2019 was opened in Nov 2018 and had 656 votes, Atlassian closed that ticket down and opened this new one instead in Oct 2020.  It has all of 22 votes.

This system is terrible.

Sooo... It's been 3 years, 650 votes on the old ticket + another 100 on the new ticket...

If anyone is thinking about using Next Gen as a new, actively developed alternative to Jira Classic, this is a great example of the "active development". If it doesn't have the features you need, it just won't have them.

Almost 4 years and we still can't do this! Maybe need to change the name to 'Last Gen'
