How to edit an issue in jira without changing the assignee if its account is disabled?

I got this request from some jira-users. While, they understood that this may be a feature, still they have a proper use case where they want to update some fields for closed tickets, and not have the asignee changed.

Is this a bug and the asignee checking should be done only for open tickets?

Try these things:
  1. Closed issues cannot be edited
  2. Check the issue permission on who can edit the issue

We can enable editing of closed issues, just need to change the step property.

Depends on the version you use. Latest releases have new feature called in-line editing. Hope this will help you.
