How to delete user who commented issues in the past.

Marcin Cudzik August 26, 2013

Hi,

I'd like to do some cleaning on our Jira and I found the following problem:

1. We have a few users who do not work in our company now.

2. I've changed assignee and reporter fields so none of them has issues.

3. I still cannot delete users because all of them commented some issues.

How can I deal with this problem, is it possible to change the author of a comment? Since Jira licence cost depends on users I'd like to remove all who are not our employees.

We are using Jira OnDemand.

cheers,

Marcin Cudzik

Why don't you deactivate those user accounts?

That way they don't count against your license and you retain the information on those tickets...

I deactivated them but I wasn't sure if its enough. Thanks for your reply!

When I look at the users the way the documentation explains it, I don't get an Active checkbox. This is really frustrating.

If you're using OnDemand, you won't - those are documents for the download version of JIRA. Check out https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Deleting+or+Deactivating+JIRA+Users
