How to create groups, to manage projects in JIRA?

sridhar Ramasubbu June 23, 2017

I have some set of projects created in JIRA, i have to arrange those projects according to the applications.

For eg,

Application 1 - Group

Project 1

Project 2

etc..

So basically any projects that is created for that application should be grouped under that particular application.

Note: I am very new to JIRA and need your thoughts how to start with it.

Hi Sridhar,

you can use project categories for that.

Create a category for each of your applications on the admin section of Jira:

http://<your-jira-url>/secure/admin/projectcategories/ViewProjectCategories!default.jspa

When you created a new project, go to project settings and choose  "Details". There you can set the project category.

If you view all projects, you can filter them then by the category. They are not really grouped, but get a common handle to filter them.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your suggestion, let me try categorizing it  and arrange accordingly.
