How to configure linked issues?

Hello,

Pardon my asking, but how does linked issues work?

I set one issue blocked by another issue, but I can close both independently.

It's usually just for information purposes, by defaut it doesn't have any functional use.

if you want to block until related issues are closed, why not use sub-tasks and put a subtask blocking condition in JIRA workflow?

Or you can pay for a plugin to give you a workflow condition

You can achieve more functionality using issue linking if you are using plugins:
