How to change the Custom Field from Default Text Renderer to Wiki Style Renderer Programmatically?

I wanted to Change the Active Renderer of the Custom Field to the Wiki Style Renderer programmatically.

Someone Kindly guide me to change the Renderer to Wiki Style.

This widget could not be displayed.

In my search for this question, it looks like this is not possible to do via the native REST API for Jira.  There is an existing feature request for this in

However the Java API for Jira does appear to allow this.   I would recommend checking out @Jobin Kuruvilla [Go2Group]'s response over on this thread:
