How to change default issue scheme for new projects?

When I create new project, it is autimatically assigned the "Default Issue Type Scheme". I have my own scheme that I would like to use as a default, is there a way to set it as such?

That would work but I am slightly worried that for instance JIRA upgrade might reset this to the default set or something like that. Explicitly making one of my custom schemes as the default one feels safer.

Why don't you just edit the default issue scheme according to your needs?
