For example, get summary of a current issue.

i am having a hard time figuring it out...i am using populateVelocityParams(Map params) and i have control over velocity but i do not know how to access java api.

any help is much appreciated.

You have to expose the objects you want to use the classes of in the velocity map generated by your java, then you can use them as though they are velocity objects.

As a very very basic example, a lot of the time, you are working with issues.  So your java would probably have a line like "velocityParams.put ("issue", theIssue)"  (VelocityParams being the map that java is going to pass to velocity and theIssue being a JIRA issue object)

You can then reference the issue object in velocity by bunging it in directly and calling its methods.  For example:

##some issue output

The summary of my issue is: $issue.getSummary()

Perfect explanation! Thank you.
