How to assign a component to ALL bugs even closed ones

Philip Winston June 12, 2013

We completely changed how we are using components. I would like to assign a compent to a query with 1000+ issues, many closed. It's not essentially to assign it to the closed ones, but it would nice. You can't bulk edit closed issues. Is there a way around this? Or is it wise to re-open them, edit them, and close them again. How can I do that without mixing up which are re-opened and need to be closed vs. which are just actually re-opened naturally?

Philip, you can change your workflow to allow editing of closed issues. Just click on the step you want to change (Closed, in this case) and select "Issue Editable" from the tools menu. After you publish the workflow, you'll be able to edit closed issues, singly and in bulk.

Hello there,

Maybe you can perform a bulk issue edit: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Modifying+Multiple+%28%27Bulk%27%29+Issues
