How should I track development and test time estimates/effort?

I'd like to be able to start using the time tracking capabilities in JIRA. But my concern is that I see no way to separate out the development vs. the test time. There is only one Original Estimate field - who should fill it out? Should it include both the development and test time? Is there any good way to capture dev and test effort independently? I'd really like to know how other groups do this - please share your experiences.

You can either use jira reports or different transitions on the workflow and even different plugins:
