How is Jira with an accessible workforce

Gab Dracopoulos October 7, 2018

We are assessing Jira as a tool to support us with our Agile and Design thinking efforts need to understand more about the accessibility features of Jira. We have a component of employees with vision impairment and was wondering if Jira is currently being used in a workplace that support people with disabilities.

Can anyone assist us in understanding if Jira has the below or support the below features?

- Is functionality compromised if a user is used Microsoft or IOS accessibility tools

- Does Jira work with assistance tools like screen readers etc

- provide descriptions and instructions for accessible features

- use standard keyboard access methods

Would really appreciate sharing your experience with Jira in the accessibility space

Thanks for raising the question here Gab,

Atlassian is fully commited to make the product as accessible as possible. We're auditing our products to ensure they are compliant with Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 AA.  You can watch and follow the compliant request here to be notified of any changes. Though we don't have any ETA at the moment.

We have tested on screen readers and browsers and your users will have the most accessible experience following combinations below:

Feel free to have a read on this further here: Accessibility.

Let me know if you have any concerns.

Cheers, Syauqi

Hi there!  Addteq's app for Jira and Confluence is a great option for visually impaired users! It allows your Jira & Confluence instances to be compliant and offers your users ease of use.

Hope this helps anyone in need!
