How do you "close" issues in Jira

How do you offically close an issue within a project in Jira so it is registered by the Activity Stream tile on the dashboard?

Hi Sam

The standard method for this is to "resolve the issue." To resolve an issue, navigate to the issue and click Resolve Issue. But this will depend on your Workflow, you need to check the steps you associated to the project and if the Resolve Issue has a post function associated to set the resolution field.
