How do you make a custom field visible in the View screen with no value selected?

Hi everyone,

So I have a multi-select custom field. How do I make that field stay visible in the View Issue screen even when no value is selected. It appears just fine if one or more values are selected, but disappears if it is none.

Very annoying to have to bring up the Edit screen just to add a value, particularly with JIRA 5's click-to-edit AJAX widgets.

Here is a known 'Improvment' ticket regarding this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-6697 , please vote it for the implement.

However, before the new feature comes out, here is a current workaround. Please follow the workaround in this FAQ:
