How do you create a copy of your portfolio plan?

Bonnie Gier November 24, 2015

I had an issue where a JIRA portfolio plan had data corruption.

I'd like to create a copy of it as backup in the future as well as create one as a template base for future plans.  I don't want to have to re-enter all the team information over and over again.

Any suggestions?

Hi Bonnie, you can use the Plan XML export for this: Plan > Export.

For re-importing the plan, you can do it via the Plan Creation Dialog Portfolio > Create Plan > Import from a File (link at the bottom of the dialog)

The re-import will not influence the existing plan, but basically creates a new plan based on the exported data.

Where did the Export Plan feature go, in version 2.7.0?

This post,

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-to-export-a-Portfiolio-2-0-plan-to-XML/qaq-p/272448

seems to indicate that this XML export/import solution no longer works. Am I reading this correctly and, if so, is there any plan to restore the ability to copy a portfolio plan?
