How do we use JIRA misc Custom fields to capture the last comment.

Is this the appropriate plugin to achieve this?

 

Looking to use the last updated comment as our Status Details? We would then want to report this information in either a JIRA Dashboard, but prefer reporting it in our confluence pages.

This was suggested at: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-2734 but has not been implemented in JIRA.

There are third party paid plugin to do this: 

Though I have not used either, and have no real feedback to give on them. Just what I found through some quick Googling.
