For example, instead of https://<domain>.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2

can we make it something like

 https://<domain>.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/<projectname>

or even https://<domain>.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/<projectname>

Unfortunately it will not be possible for you to perform URL rewriting when you are hosted in the Cloud, in On-Demand. This is typically done by a system administrator or network administrator. They would start by modifying configurations of the Tomcat or Apache front end, which you do not have access to in this scenario.
