How do I notify HipChat on JIRA issue updates?

Currently, JIRA emails me when issues are transitions, modified, or commented on.

I want to replace email with HipChat (more or less).

I can get transitions into HipChat, but I can't figure out how to get modified or comment updates into it. I can do this for Slack and Flowdock. Is this level of integration just not offered by HipChat?

Hi Paul,

Our dev team is currently working on to improve this process. Today, HipChat integration with JIRA is only allowed when a transition happens on the issue. All the HipChat integration is done via workflow post-functions.

Thanks, Elisa. Any idea on what the timeframe is (6 months, year)? I just want to know how much effort to put in the workaround.
